Mrs. Elfa Lorene Hopkins

Elfa "Lorene" Hopkins passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at 96 years old. She was born on July 12, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri, to her loving parents Greenberry and Addie Pearl West. Lorene was the youngest and the last surviving of her 12 siblings. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1946, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love, dedication, and creativity.

Lorene met her beloved husband, Taylor "Hoppy," at the El Torreon roller rink, where their love story began. Over the years, their bond strengthened, and they welcomed three wonderful boys into their lives. Lorene found immense joy in her role as a homemaker, dedicating herself to nurturing her family and creating a warm and loving home. Later in life, she discovered her passion for art and pursued a career as a commercial artist at Midwest Embroidery, where her creativity and talent flourished. "Hoppy" was a dedicated Electrical Mechanic at TWA for over thirty years, and together, Lorene and Taylor shared countless cherished memories, particularly enjoying their travels and camping adventures at the lake.

Lorene is preceded in death by her husband, Taylor "Hoppy," of over 60 years, as well as her siblings, grandson Chad Hopkins, and granddaughter Jennifer Scott. While she has departed from this world, her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three devoted sons, Willis Hopkins, Dennis (Tillie) Hopkins, and Douglas (Karen) Hopkins, along with seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Lorene's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire and guide her family for generations to come.

In honor of Lorene's memory and her courageous battle with Alzheimer's, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in her name, in lieu of flowers.

May Lorene rest in eternal peace, her spirit forever cherished and her memory held dear by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
