

Eugene (Gene) A. Jacobson April 8, 1936 – April 28, 2016 Eugene “Gene” Jacobson, 80, died Thursday night, April 28, 2016, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Missouri. He was born on April 8, 1936 in Green Valley, WI to the late John and Sylvia (Berg) Jacobson. Gene grew up in Pulcifer, Wisconsin. He graduated from Gillett High School, Gillett, WI, in 1955. Gene served in the US Army 1955-1958, where he was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and in Fort Kobbee, Canal Zone, Panama. He married Donna (Birr) Jacobson on April 23, 1960. They lived in the Kansas City area for the past 45 years and wintered in southern Texas for 18 years. He was a Supervisor for the Clorox Plant in Kansas City, Kansas and retired in 1993. Gene loved his family. He enjoyed spending time at their lake property in the Ozarks. He also enjoyed gardening, camping, dancing, junking, woodcarving and was a member of Northland Woodcarvers. Gene is survived by his wife, Donna, and their children Cindy (Chuck) Hyneman, Karl (Sherry) Jacobson and Jane (Doug) Petree, all in the area, grandchildren Jared Hyneman, Katie Hyneman, Anna (Zach) Allen, Ellen Jacobson, Neal Jacobson, Jacob Petree and Mayme Petree, brothers Alvin (Lorry) Jacobson, Jerry (Sally) Jacobson and sister, Donna Bubolz, Aunts Carrie Berg and Adeline Berg, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Gene is preceded in death by his father and mother, John & Sylvia Jacobson, and one sister, Sally Hertwig. He will be remembered most for his love of God, his strong faith, his forgiving nature, his hugs, his smirky smile, the stories he told and always having time for another beer.
