

Frances Carol Francis, age 89, died peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, in the presence of family and friends. Frances was born in Green City, MO on March 19, 1935, to Carroll and Ruby Miller. She was the fifth of seven children. She was the lone survivor.
Upon graduation from Green City High School in 1953, Frances moved to Kansas City, MO where she worked for Farmland Industries. She later went to work for Trans World Airlines where she worked and retired from in the accounting division.
While working at COOP she met the man she would soon marry, Willie (Bill) Francis in February 1957. With Bill came two bonus daughters, Kathy and Pam. Their son, Randy came along a couple of years later. They eventually settled in Pleasant Valley, MO into the home they built from the ground up. They were married for 51+ years until Bill passed in 2008.
While living in Pleasant Valley and Bill was on the cities’ police department, Frances was one of the first female officers. She had to make her own skirt and trousers. Her duties were reserved for searches of female arrests.
During their time together and while still working at TWA, they took advantage of her passes and discounts. They traveled to Spain, Mexico, Hawaii, New York, Florida, California and numerous times to Arizona. After retirement they traveled the Gulf coast and southwest by land. She also enjoyed cruising the Caribbean with her sister and niece.
She enjoyed her time at their lake house entertaining and fishing. She would bait her hook, take her catch off the hook and cook her catch, but she refused to clean them. That, she left to the men.
Frances was an excellent seamstress. She made many of the dresses that she wore while working. Later she began making quilts. Some were joint adventures she did with her sisters. She enjoyed rotating and displaying them on her bed.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Dortha “Jean” Snyder, Doris Smith, Marilee Tharp, Martha “Rae” Sorenson and Eleanor “K” Campagna; and brother, Charles Miller.
She is survived by her bonus daughters, Kathy (Mark) Olander, Pam (Brian) Beamish of Tucson, AZ; son, Randy (Linda) Francis of Kansas City, MO; and grandchildren, Joel Acken, Tanner Acken both of Tucson and Becca Francis of Kansas City; and loved companion, Bob Litle of Liberty, MO.
Services will be held on August 6, 2024, at Hillside Christian Church, 900 E. Vivian Rd, Kansas City, MO 64118. Visitation will begin at 12 PM. Funeral service at 1 PM with the burial immediately following at Terrace Park Funeral Home & Cemetery, 801 NW 108th St Kansas City, MO 64155.
