

She was born in Rosedale, Kansas City, Kansas on September 25, 1932 to Helen Mary (Deegan) Baker and Cecil J. Baker, Sr. Helen lived most of her life in Missouri. Helen’s faith was as a Methodist. She played the clarinet in grade school and was in the marching band during high school where she played in parades and home football games with the band. Helen graduated from Westport High School at age 16. After she graduated from high school she went to Business School. Helen worked at: National Bella Hess, Sears, B.M.A., Kansas City Life Insurance, Kansas City School District, U.S. Dept. of Commerce, and U.S. Dept. of Treasury. Helen loved sewing and made her granddaughter Becky’s clothes as well as some shirts for her boys and dresses for daughter Barbara and herself. She was a very compassionate women. She had a Corgi named Daisy whom she loved very much.
Helen is preceded in death by her first husband Gilbert L. Strange, her second husband Perry Huffman; her parents Helen Mary (Deegan) Baker and Cecil J. Baker, Sr.; her brothers Thomas Baker, Charles Baker and James Baker; her sisters-in-law Marcelle Baker, Elsie Baker; daughter Barbara Cornelius; daughter-in-law Marisa Strange; and Tyler Stinson
Helen is survived by her siblings; Cecil J Baker (Patricia), Mary Jo Baker-Stinson (Emmett); her children Marcella E. Services are at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119 on Wednesday, December 29, 2012 visitation starting at 10am, funeral starting at 11am with burial service to follow immediately. There will not be an organized luncheon, but if family and friends want to go to a restaurant afterwards and visit please join us.
In lieu of flowers donations are suggested to the University of Kansas Cancer Clinic, or a dog adoption organization and animal rescue group of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at New Mark Care Center for such loving care of Helen while she was there.
