Helen was born in Belleville, Illinois on October 4, 1926, the 3rd child of Erwin and Helen Franz, both deceased. Also deceased, her sister Anna Lauritzen; a nephew, John Franz; and a step-son, Raymond McMillin, Jr.
She leaves her brother, Raymond J. (Estelle) Franz, Forest, VA; Nephews, R. Lynn (Barbara) Franz, Lynchburg, VA; Walter C (Shirley) Frick, Manhattan, IL; niece, Carolyn Rowland, Marble Falls, AR; step-son, Gary (Darla) McMillin, Independence, MO; step-daughter-in-law, Lacreta McMillin; 4 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great grandchildren, 3 step great great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
Helen worked for the Sentinel Federal Savings and Loan Association for over 21 years, starting as a Teller and retiring in 1988 as Assistant Vice-President. She enjoyed bowling, while health permitted, fishing and traveling with Ray in their RV.
She was a charter member of Lake Viking Church, Gallatin, MO, being involved with many activities and holding various positions in the church. She and Ray moved to Sun City, AZ in 1998, joining the First Baptist Church there and becoming involved with its many activities and holding various positions. She was especially interested in the music programs of both churches, enjoying singing in the choirs and outreach music programs. Helen was also a member of the Gideons International, holding positions in the Auxiliary in the Independence North Camp, having moved with Ray to Independence, MO in 2005. Helen was a member of Susquehanna Baptist Church, Independence, MO.
