

After graduation from Duluth Central High School and throughout her career, Helen was known for her meticulous work ethic and her unwavering commitment to helping others navigate the complexities of local government. She was an Officer for the Women’s Business Club. Her colleagues admired her for her reliability, kindness, and her ever-present smile that brightened even the busiest days.
Outside of work, Helen found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She had a special fondness for puppies, whose playful innocence mirrored her own youthful heart.
She loved crossword puzzles and was also an avid reader, particularly drawn to the thrilling suspense woven by James Patterson’s novels, which kept her imagination vivid and her mind sharp. Halloween held a special place in Helen’s heart. She delighted in the festive spirit of the holiday, embracing the costumes, decorations, and the joyful community gatherings that brought out her playful side. Her love of square dancing with her husband Glen was one of her greatest joys. Helen’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, and a zest for life’s small pleasures. She leaves behind a community enriched by her presence and memories cherished by family and friends who were fortunate to share in her journey.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nellie Witta , father Kenneth McKinley and stepmother, Cora McKinley; sisters, Donna Amel, Claire Hendrickson, and Mina Munson.
Helen is survived by her son, Jim Stone and wife Vickie of Smithville, Missouri; her daughter, Christy Hudson and husband Butch of Kearney, Missouri. Sisters; Mary Morris and husband Chuck, Maxine Glapa and husband Alan, Flossie Summers and Wilma Woodward. Five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Her warmth, her laughter, and her love for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her.
A Visitation for Helen will be held Monday, May 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri 64119. A Celebration of Life will begin at 11:00 AM. A Committal Service at White Chapel Cemetery, Gladstone, MO will follow the Celebration.
