

Holly Lyn (Wendt) Combs passed from this life on November 1, 2014, All Saints Day, at 12:50 AM at home in Kansas City, MO, at the age of 36. She courageously battled pancreatic cancer for 19 months. Holly was born in Trenton, MO on February 24, 1978. Her parents are Wayne and Patricia (Crawford) Wendt of Trenton, MO. Holly married Brian Combs on September 19, 2003 in Excelsior Springs at The Elms Resort. After attending elementary school in Trenton, she graduated as valedictorian from Liberty High School in 1996. She graduated from William Jewell College with a degree in elementary education and taught at Valley Park Elementary in Blue Valley for 5 years. She was beloved by students and faculty. After her first daughter was born, she left teaching to devote her life full-time to motherhood. Since early childhood, her passion was to become a full-time mom and with the birth of Anna and then Elsie, this dream was realized. She was known for her kindness to all animals, love of nature, music, and giftedness in the kitchen. She was an active member in the Presbyterian Church of Stanley and demonstrated her deep faith in God as a member of the church choir. She is survived by her spouse, Brian; her two adored daughters, Anna, 8 and Elsie 6; her parents, Wayne and Patricia; her grandmother, Mary Lou Pew Crawford; her cherished sister, Kristy DeRhea Wendt; her aunt, Linda Shilt (Jack); her uncles, Alan Crawford (Sandra) and Randall Crawford (Linda); and numerous family members. A Celebration of Life will be held outdoors Wednesday, November 5th, at Shoal Creek Living History Museum (Hodge Park) at 7000 NE Barry Rd in Kansas City, MO 64156 at 11:30 AM. Friends are welcome to provide their own chairs or blankets. White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone is conducting arrangements. The family is requesting memorials for the Pancreatic Cancer Network (in Holly’s name) to White Chapel 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
