

James Joseph “Jim” Miller, 80, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2025, in Platte City, Missouri. Born on July 10, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri. Jim lived a full and dedicated life marked by service, hard work and deep devotion to his family.
Jim graduated from De La Salle High School in Kansas City in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Navy. From 1964-1966, Jim served with honor and pride.
Following his military service, Jim began working at railway Express until 1969. That year marked the beginning of a remarkable career at Nazdar Inc. Technologies. Over thew next 52 years, Jim became a fixture at the company -- known not only for his dedication, but also for his thoughtful morning ritual of arriving early to make coffee for everyone at the plant. His commitment to his coworkers and his work ethic left a lasting impression to all who knew him.
Outside of work, Jim found joy in simple pleasures. He loved bowling and fishing whenever he had free time. A lifelong sports fan, he especially enjoyed cheering on the Kansas City Royals and the Chiefs. Known for always having a joke ready and an open ear for anyone who needed to talk, Jim bought warmth and laughter into every room he entered.
Jim was a loving father to his sons, John Miller and Eric (Sharon) Miller, and a proud grandfather to Chris Miller, Tyler Miller, Alissa Miller, MaKinzi Miller and Sarah Miller. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren Marni Miller, Gypsi Miller, Maverick Miller and MaKinna Miller.
He is fondly remembered by his sisters, JoAnn Doerr; Theresa Orrick (Bill); and Mary Ellen (Butch) Neihaus, as well as countless nieces and nephews across multiple generations which cherished their Uncle Jim.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife Kathleen Miller; his parents, John and Rosalia Miller; sister, Rose Mary Collier; brothers-in-law, Jules Doerr and Jim Collier.
The family extends special thanks to Amy Miller, Jim’s daughter-in-law, whose unwavering care during the final years of Jim’s life brought him comfort and dignity.
Jim’s memory will live on through the lives he touched with kindness, humor and steadfast love. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
A visitation will be held on December 22, 2025, from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch, Gladstone, Missouri. Rosary immediately following at 6:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be held on December 23,2025, at 10:30 A.M., at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 4737 N. Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City. Following the Mass, a Graveside service will be held at Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery 2201 Cleveland Avenue, Kansas City.
