Jane Oliver Sunderland

JANE OLIVER SUNDERLAND, 91, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home on January 28, 2018. Jane was born in Bozeman, Montana on July 8, 1926, the daughter of Edith Armstrong Oliver and Robert Brady Oliver, Sr. She attended schools in Bozeman and graduated from Montana State College (now Montana State University). She was married August 20, 1947, to Marvin E. Sunderland, who passed away February 24, 1964.

Jane moved to Kansas City in 1960. After Marvin passed, she raised five children as a single parent, each of whom attended North Kansas City High School and went on to graduate from college. She served as a volunteer at North Kansas City Hospital from 1983 to 2007, where she accumulated over 26,000 volunteer hours. She received a kidney transplant in 1985 which sustained her for the rest of her life.

She is survived by four children, Daniel M. Sunderland, Kansas City, Susan (Kevin) Hollingshead, Scottsdale, AZ, Jeffrey J. (Mandy) Sunderland, The Woodlands, TX, Dianne (JD) Painter, Durango, CO, daughter-in-law Brenda Sunderland, Bozeman, MT, grandchildren Kyle and Alexis Hollingshead, Nolan and Nicholas Sunderland, and Michael and Irene Sunderland.

She was preceded in death by her youngest son Thomas J. Sunderland and brother Robert B. Oliver, Jr.

Services will be held at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Bozeman, MT next summer. Memorial contributions may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Research Foundation.
