Jeanine Mae (Newland) Lotz, 77, of Blue Springs passed away at NorthCare Hospice House on August 9, 2018 after a long struggle with cancer. Jeanine was born on May 28, 1941 to David R. and Mae A. (Curry) Newland at Research Hospital in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1959. She married Glen Ray Lotz on July 9, 1960 at Winnwood Baptist Church in Kansas City. One of her greatest joys was raising her two sons of whom she was extremely proud. When her two sons were both in elementary school, she went back to college and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Missouri Baptist College in St. Louis. She loved teaching 2nd graders and especially loved Clifford the Big Red Dog. She retired in 2002 from Fort Zumwalt School District in O’Fallon, MO. She loved outdoor adventures, identifying flowers and watching birds. She rarely met an orphaned animal that did not become a temporary pet. Glen and Jeanine retired to Blue Springs in 2006 where she made a number of new friends at the local Red Hat Society. A small group of them enjoyed numerous fun trips including line dancing, concerts, birthday dinners, trips to Branson, and multiple cruises.
Jeanine is preceded in death by her parents and half-brother, Eugene Chisam. She is survived by her husband, Glen Lotz; sons, Michael Glen Lotz and wife, Kirsten Anne (Holub) Lotz and Stephen Ray Lotz; grandchildren, Kevin Michael Lotz and Jared Daniel Lotz and wife Patricia Lee (Butler) Lotz; and sister-in-law, Jan (Vice) Lotz.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the NorthCare Hospice House. Please send donations by check made payable to NorthCare Hospice House, 2800 Clay Edwards Drive, North Kansas City, MO 64116.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am Monday, August 13 at White Chapel Cemetery.
