Jesse Earl Dodd Jr. was the son of Jesse Earl Dodd, Sr. and Anna Beatrice Dodd. He was born September 17, 1945 in Excelsior Springs, MO. He departed this earth on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Longmont, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Georgann Prince, Betty Blackwell, and Grace Gantt, and brothers Theodore Davis, George Lee Page, and Fredrick Lloyd Dodd.
He attended Garrison School in Liberty and graduated from Liberty High School in 1964. He was united in marriage to Linda Steward in February 1964 and they were blessed three daughters, Twyla, Melody and Leondra.
Jesse worked full time at Model Cleaners and Donaldson Company in addition to his business, Dodd Cleaning Service. In 2007, Jesse retired after 42 years of working at Donaldson Company in Chillicothe, MO.
Jesse accepted Jesus as his Savior and served at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chillicothe, MO. He served faithfully as a deacon until he was called to preach in 1992 and ordained as a minister. Rev. Dodd served as the proud pastor of the First Baptist Church of Triplett, MO and the Second Baptist Church of Salisbury, MO. He furthered his education at North Grand River Association Seminary Extension in Trenton, MO and Midwest Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Jesse also served as Recording Secretary, Executive Secretary and Moderator of Mount Zion District Association and 4th Vice President of the Missionary Baptist State Convention of Missouri.
In June 2017, he was united in marriage to Deborah Prymus. He was employed by Longmont Church of Christ and Hopelight Clinic until his passing.
Jesse is survived in death by his wife, Deborah Dodd, Longmont CO; his daughters, Twyla (Ronald) Lindsay of Lee’s Summit, MO; Melody (Larry) Rodgers of Albuquerque, NM; Leondra Dodd-Arnold of Lee’s Summit, MO; and son Robert (Dietra) Porter of Firestone, CO; grandchildren Jesalynn and Ronnie Lindsay, Marilee and Micaiah Rodgers, Lincoln and Hendrix Porter; Aunt, George Dorothy Luke of Excelsior Springs, MO; Uncle, Joseph Garner of Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Alice Gantt, Excelsior Springs, MO, Myrna (Charles) Smith of Liberty, MO; brothers, William (Kathy), Kansas City, MO, James Patrick Dodd and John Dodd of Liberty, MO; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
