Jimmy was born March 8, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri to James A. and Ethel Marie (Moore) Baxter.
Jimmy was a North Kansas City High School graduate. He joined the US Army and served proudly.
Jimmy enjoyed working cross word puzzles, word searches and painting. He was a Christian in Faith. Jimmy had a love of collecting angels, decorating his apartment with them.
James was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Kris Frans, Sandra Gleese, Donna Perkins, Connie Pacheco, and Marsha Jesse; his brother, Floyd “Tommy” Baxter.
Survivors include his sister, Faye (John) O’Connell; his son, James “JD” Baxter; brothers-in-law, Jerry Frans, Rick Perkins, and Richard Jesse; numerous nieces and nephews.
