Jim (Jimmy) Wayne Guffey age 43 died unexpectedly of natural causes on September 23, 2017 while on vacation in Mexico. Beloved Husband of 18 years to Julie and Father to Colby, a freshman at Platte County High School. Jim and Julie built a home in Platte City in 2003 and have lived there since. Jim graduated from Liberty High School in 1992. Jim is owner of ECS Geothermal Inc. and had been a WaterFurnace Dealer since the late 1990’s. Jim and Julie purchased ECS Geothermal in December, 2010 to service the Kansas City market. Jim was an innovator in developing the geothermal installation processes of which he openly shared with other WaterFurnace Dealers helping them to achieve further success with their businesses as well. Jim is survived by his parents Greg and Dee (Dorothy), his brother Clint and wife Lindsay, nieces Kayleigh and Kendall, grandparents Sheryl and Margie Guffey, grand-parents Elery and Susie (deceased) Berry, mother-in-law Cindy Cento, father-in-law Scott and step mother-in-law Jenny Solon, beloved sister and brother in-laws and their children, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim loved his family and his countless friends fully. Jim loved in word and deed; everyone always felt his love. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. There are many stories about “pranks” Jim would bestow on the ones he loved. Colby was his pride and joy. Jim taught him to love the outdoors too. Jim called Julie his “Jewels.” Jim will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, many ongoing projects and a need for speed in the many vehicles he drove. Jim was a friend to everyone and a hero to so many. Jim is known for his ability to love everyone he met, he fully accepted them and gave them whatever help they needed. Jim was thankful for the gifts he had and loved to give back to those in need. He contributed over the years to his favorite community program, “Shop with a Deputy,” a program sponsored by the Platte County Sheriff’s Department. This is a program which provides underprivileged children the ability to experience Christmas. We will miss Jim’s laughter, honesty, and his love.
