

Joyce was born on September 18th, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri, along with her twin sister Judy, to Archie and Theresa Alexander. She graduated from Northeast Senior High school in 1959.
Joyce married George Douglas, a United States Marine from Kansas City, Kansas. In 1961, George and Joyce welcomed Curtis to the world. Two years later, Scott completed the family.
Joyce earned her Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) license in November of 1971 and worked for Research Hospital for many years, then working with a pediatrician and later, moving into a private allergy practice.
Joyce enjoyed going to the lake house and watching her boys waterski and going for evening boat rides. Joyce loved playing cards with friends and family.
She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Independence, Mo.
She is preceded in death by her husband, George Douglas, both parents, Archie and Theresa Alexander.
Joyce is survived by her children, Curt Douglas, and his wife Tish of Lee’s Summit, Mo, and Scott Douglas of Liberty, Mo. Her sisters, Kay Brengarth of Lee’s Summit, Judy Votipka of Independence, Mo., Janet and Raymond Cousins of Washington, Mo., and Kenny and Phyllis Alexander of Olathe, Kansas, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, August 26th at 1:00pm - 2:00pm at White Chapel Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens in Gladstone, Missouri, followed by a brief service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joyce's life.
