She graduated from Northeast Senior High School in 1962. After graduation, Karen worked at Luce’s as a suitcase assembler before marrying Frank Brewer, a warehouse forklift driver in 1966. The couple had Kevan in 1969.
Karen was a loving and protective wife and mother who planned and saved, and who encouraged Kevan to get an education and pursue his goals. Karen was an active and dedicated member of the First Pentecostal Church of Kansas City and put God and her family first.
Karen is preceded in death by her father and mother, James and Violet VanDierendonk, by her brother, Jimmy VanDirendonk, and by a stillborn baby boy.
Karen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Frank Brewer of Kansas City, a son, Kevan and his wife Sue of Kansas City; granddaughter Laura and husband Alex, and great-grandchildren Mason and Skyla of Fort Stockton, Texas; granddaughter, Megan and fiancée Hunter of Kansas City.
The Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the First Pentecostal Church of Kansas City, 14800 NW Tiffany Park Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64153, with the Funeral service following at 12:00 PM at the Church, with burial in the White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119.
