Katherine “Kathy” Jean Stubbs, passed away on January 17, 2026, at the age of 54. She was born on March 19, 1971 to Kenny and Pam Stubbs, and raised in the Northland, a place she always considered home.
She attended North Kansas City High School with her older brother, Ken. Their relationship was classic sibling love, full of teasing and loyalty. Kathy liked to say she learned to walk early just so she could keep up with Ken and annoy him, something she never quite grew out of.
For more than twenty years, Kathy worked as a kitchen manager at a nursing home. She took real pride in her work and was known for making the best food. Feeding people was one of the ways she showed care and she did it well.
Family was the center of Kathy’s life. Before adopting her children, she participated in the foster to adopt program, opening her home to children who needed stability and love. She was devoted to her children and later to her grandchildren, who brought her endless joy. Her pets were never far away and were very much part of the family.
Kathy had a gentle sensitivity that allowed people to feel understood without much being said. She showed love in quiet ways, especially in the kitchen. She taught her daughter Mikayla how to cook, sharing favorite recipes like her lasagna and German chocolate cake, along with time together that mattered more than the food itself.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Mikayla (Kurtis) Kubinski; sons Jaxon and Kaydon Stubbs; daughter in law Maria (Erin); six grandchildren; parents Pam and Kenny Stubbs; brother Ken Stubbs; nieces Allison and Rose Stubbs; and extended family members who loved her deeply. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandparents John and Wilma Pierceal.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son Ryan Stubbs, grandparents Charles and Katherine Lacy.
A Visitation will be held on January 24, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a Celebration of Life to follow, both at White Chapel Funeral Home located at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119.
