Kevin Patrick Devine

Kevin was born on May 16, 1961, in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1979 and Penn Valley Community College in 1983 with an Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Kevin opened and operated his own commercial heating/cooling and refrigeration company for many years before pursuing his lifelong passion of photography. Kevin and his wife, Lynde, started their current, successful business, Kevin Devine Photography, in 2007. Having found his true calling, he never looked back. Kevin enjoyed sharing his love of photography with his customers, many of whom became lifelong friends over the years. With Lynde by his side, they were able to travel all over the greater Midwest region (together) sharing each day and each new experience while establishing a powerful, family-friendly company. (Truly an entrepreneurs dream come true to be able to follow a dream and become successful!)

Kevin was more than an artist. He was a loving, generous man who deeply cared for others. Whether through his witty sense of humor, or his soft gentle touch, he wanted people to feel happy and at peace. All who knew him would have to agree that he enjoyed making people laugh with his charismatic personality, infectious laughter, and a smile that would brighten even the darkest of days. Kevin had the ability to "wear more than one hat.” He was a skilled artist and smart businessman, but also had the innocence of a kid who just wanted to live life (play) to the fullest. He made life a journey of continuous, exciting adventures.

During the past few years, Kevin and Lynde found a little bit of what they called "Heaven" in Galveston, Texas. He would plan little getaways for them so they could have time alone to revel in their love for each other among the sunshine, palm trees, and gentle ocean breezes. They appreciated those short trips to the Gulf Coast where they could relax and enjoy each other's company without the worries of daily life (and have a margarita, or two!). These getaways were treasured by both himself and Lynde, and gave them a place to just let go, be in love, and make memories that will last a lifetime. It is a love that cannot be severed by his untimely passing.

Kevin was very passionate about his family. He loved, adored, and respected his mother, JoAnn, for being such a strong, compassionate, beautiful woman. He beamed with pride over his children (Lindsay and Jameson) and over the sons he loved and raised as his own (Chris, Jon, and Skyler). He boasted about the upstanding adults they have all become. You could sense the love he had for his children whenever he spoke of them. He was proud to have become a Grandpa to two beautiful granddaughters (Giuliana age 2 and Gabriella 4 weeks), and enjoyed sharing pictures with anyone who was nearby to see them. Kevin cherished his brother, Tim, whom he loved like a best friend. It is nearly impossible to share all of the love that he had for his family in mere words on a page, but he had a deep-rooted bond with his family that cannot be broken by his untimely passing.

So, how does one summarize a life that was so full of love, laughter, and graciousness? Honestly, one cannot, but Kevin is loved and will be missed beyond measure. He is remembered for the loving, selfless, witty, gregarious man that made us all laugh until our sides hurt. He will be remembered for the love he shared with his family. He will be treasured by the woman that he shared his life with as their once in a lifetime true love. He will be remembered as a talented photographer who captured memories for others that will last a lifetime. He will be greatly missed by many, but forgotten by none.

Kevin always said that he would not change one experience in his life, as all of those experiences – good or bad - brought him to the happiest place that he could have ever imagined. So, even though he was still so full of life, he felt "complete" and without regrets. We will all mourn his passing, but also celebrate his life and the lives of those he touched.

Kevin is preceded in death by his father, Timothy "Pat" Devine, of Kansas City. He is survived by his wife Lynde Greene-Devine, Kansas City; his loving mother JoAnn Devine, Gladstone; his 5 adored children Lindsay Devine Kamon (Mike), Glastonbury CT; Jameson Devine, Kansas City; Chris Greene, Kansas City; Jon Greene, Kansas City; Skyler Greene, Kansas City; his 2 beloved grandchildren Giuliana Kamon (2) and Gabriella Kamon (4 weeks), Glastonbury, CT; his brother Tim Devine (Ann), Lenexa, KS; his nephews Adam Devine and Erin Devine; his niece Megan Devine; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

All are welcome to celebrate Kevin's beautiful life on Sunday, April 15, at White Chapel Funeral Home (6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119) from 3-5pm.
