

Born on February 2, 1985, in Merriam, Kansas, Leah lived a life defined by compassion, intelligence, service, and a deep love for nature and animals. She was the beloved daughter of Philip Wayne Davis and Sherell Adele Davis; cherished sister of William Wendell Davis; and devoted sister and sister-in-law to Crystal Lyn Marquette and Kevin J. Marquette. Leah was a proud and loving aunt to Charis Ceana Marquette and Alexander Ashton Marquette. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Sadie and Moo, who brought her endless comfort and companionship.
Leah pursued her passion for science and learning throughout her life. She earned her first Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science from Columbia College before later returning to school to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from University of Missouri–Kansas City.
Leah dedicated 18 years of service to the Kansas City Missouri Police Department, where she served in several important roles, including division secretary, administrative assistant, and crime scene technician. Her work reflected her remarkable attention to detail, professionalism, and commitment to helping others.
Outside of her career, Leah found joy and purpose in the natural world. She volunteered with the Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, Lakeside Nature Center, and proudly became a Missouri Master Naturalist. An avid conservationist and animal lover, Leah devoted much of her time to protecting wildlife and educating others about the importance of preserving nature.
Leah will be remembered for her kind heart, sharp mind, unwavering dedication to those she loved, and her gentle spirit. She touched the lives of many through her work, volunteerism, and compassion for all living things.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri, 64119, on May 19, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm.
In lieu of cut flowers, the family requests donations of native plant or wildflower seeds, which will be used to create a memorial garden in Leah’s honor.
