Lola Jean Andrews (Douglas), passed away at Smithville Living Center on October 24, 2017 after a brief illness. Visitation and celebration of her life will be held from 5:30-7:30 Tuesday, November 21 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch RD, Gladstone, MO. Lola was born March 21, 1928, near Paradise, MO, to Fannie and Jewell Douglas. She married Clyde Andrews and following a honeymoon to Niagara Falls aboard the TWA Connie, they settled in Kansas City to start their family. Lola and Clyde celebrated 65 years of marriage before his death in 2014. Lola was a superb quilter and master bridge player, playing with the same group of women for over 50 years. She worked for North Kansas City School District as a secretary in the Food Services department. In retirement, Lola and Clyde spent their time traveling, golfing and spending winters in Arizona enjoying many activities with lifelong KC friends. Lola was a dedicated wife and mother, wonderful mother-in-law, immaculate housekeeper and excellent cook. We will miss her delicious Thanksgiving dinners and her delight in watching us enjoy every bite. Nothing could match Lola’s love for her grandchildren. She doted on them every moment they were with her. From little league games, high school sports, and dance recitals to watching movies and eating ice cream, she loved every minute she spent with them. Our gratitude to several very caring nurses and aides who made her last difficult years as meaningful and enjoyable as possible for her. Lola is survived by her children, Douglas Andrews (Sharon), Little Rock, Ark., Joseph Andrews (Amy), Kansas City, Mo., Stephen Andrews (Leslie), Kearney, Mo., and Lisa Long (Paul), Kansas City, Mo., grandchildren Joseph Andrews, Jr., Kyle Andrews (Kelsey), Sarah (Scott) Brink, Nathan and Hannah Long, 6 great-grandchildren, and sister Karen Burchfield (Roger), Panora, Ia.
