Mary Francis Kern

Mary Francis Weathermon Kern, 89, died peacefully on April 2, 2026. Mary was born on December 31, 1936 in Conception, MO to Lloyd Francis Weathermon and Nadine Maurine McCoy Weathermon Corwin. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954. She graduated Platt College in 1984 with an Associate’s Degree in Business. Mary married Robert Leo Kern in 1956. She began working for State Probation and Parole as a receptionist. After her retirement, she worked at Lakeside Speedway and I-70 Speedway in the concessions stand, alongside her mom, Nadine (known as “the grandmas”).

Mary was a mother, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, cousin, and enjoyed participating in all family activities. She loved country music, flowers, award shows, ceramics, red birds, puzzles, traveling, the Kansas City Chiefs, sewing, and cooking for big family dinners.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Weathermon and Nadine McCoy Weathermon Corwin; her step-parent, Howard Corwin, and her previous husband, Robert Leo Kern.

Mary is survived by her children, Diana Christine Green (J.D.), Lisa Marie Miles (Jim Howard), and Brian Jeffrey Kern (Diona); her grandchildren, Derrick Green (Andrea), Dustin Green (Stevie), Robert Jeffrey Kern (Allison), Matthew Sneed, Timothy Sneed, and Jayme Sneed; her great-grandchildren, Daniel Ryan, Cooper Green, Duncan Green, Dalton Green, Cade Green, Braxton Green, Abrianna Green, Chase Kern, Liam Kern, Emersyn Kern, Jordan Sneed, and KayleeAna Sneed.

The family would like to thank the Ascend Hospice team for their care of Mary and her family.

Services for Mary will be held at Heartland Church of Christ, 6120 NW Prairie View Rd, Kansas City, MO 64151, on April 4, 2026. Visitation at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 am.
