Mary Scott Sturm

Mary Scott was born on June 3, 1943 in Chillicothe, MO; the only child of Huber and Ethel Shuman of Braymer, MO. Her early life was spent on the family farm hear Braymer, MO. She graduated from Braymer High School in 1961.

After high school, Mary attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, graduating in 1965.In college, she met her future husband Robert “Bob” Sturm. They were married on September 5th, 1965. Two children were born to this union; Angela Lynne (deceased) and Robert Michael “Mike” of Parkville, MO.

Prior to retiring, Mary was employed as an accountant in Kansas City, MO. Mary was a generous individual who spent much of her time in retirement volunteering with Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the ARC of Clay and Platte Counties as well as spending time with her grandchildren.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents Huber and Ethel Shuman of Braymer, MO as well as her daughter Angela.

Mary is survived by her husband Bob, her son Mike, daughter-in-law Stacey, and grandchildren Cora, Camille, and William.

Services officiated by Rev. Dr. Craig Meissner to be held at 10 AM Wednesday August 16, 2023 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Englewood Road, Kansas City, MO 64118.

Visitation starting at 9 AM Wednesday August 16, 2023 will precede the service at the church.

Burial will follow at Elliott Grove Cemetery in Brunswick, MO at approximately 3 PM.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Kansas City Hospice for their dedication and care. Memorials are suggested to Kansas City Hospice or Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
