Richard “Dick” Donald Joslyn passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in Panama City Beach, FL. He was born on February 26, 1935 in Kansas City, MO. Dick was the son of the late Alfreida Kendall Mounce and Fred Mounce.
Dick was the beloved husband of the late Ruby Triggs Joslyn for 58 years. He was the loving father of Fred Joslyn (Julie), Scott Joslyn (Brenda), and the late Steve Joslyn. Dick was the loving grandfather of Dana Tenpenny, Richard Joslyn, Heather O’Connor, Montana Madewell, and Dean Joslyn. He was very proud of his 10 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandson.
Dick served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958. He spent most of his enlistment in Germany. He enjoyed telling stories about his experiences in the Air Force for the remainder of his life. He often said that those times were some of the best in his life. Upon his return to the Kansas City area, he met his future wife, Ruby Triggs. The two were married on August 6, 1958. Their love story was the most important thing to him for the remainder of his days. They were soon the parents of Steve, Fred and Scott. Dick often said that his sons were the most important job he ever had. He was an awesome father. Dick was a talented builder. During the next twenty years, he constructed many projects around his home in the Carriage Hills subdivision in Gladstone, MO. Among many other things, he built an in-ground pool for his family to enjoy. Dick worked at Burd & Fletcher for 47 years. He started as a Mail Boy at fifteen and worked his way to Shop Foreman of the Printing Division. He was beloved by the men who worked for him and he loved them in return. His three sons also worked for Burd & Fletcher, at least for a time. All three worked most of their careers in the printing business, as a result of their father’s influence. Dick and all of his sons were huge Chiefs fans. He was a season ticket holder for 34 years. Dick and Ruby loved to dance. They were wonderful dancers and danced together for all of their 58 years of marriage. Dick and Ruby loved to travel and did so often throughout their lives. They owned a lake house at Lake of the Ozarks and spent many happy years renovating the house and enjoying the lake with their children and grandchildren. Ruby preceded Dick in death in February 2016. He missed her every day and never really recovered from her passing. His greatest wish was to be with her again. In the Fall of 2022, Dick relocated to Panama City Beach, FL, to live with his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Brenda. He lived with them for a time until he moved to Superior Residences where he spent the remainder of his life. He spent his last Christmas Day at Scott and Brenda’s home celebrating. He ate a wonderful dinner, played with the dogs, and enjoyed to Chiefs game. His passing was easy and quick, and his son was with him until the end. Dick will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him. His family will continue to celebrate the life of this wonderful man in all of the wonderful memories we share.
