Richard Thieman

Richard Thieman, 76, of Kansas City, MO, peacefully passed away on March 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his kind heart, playful spirit, and a rare ability to make everyone feel truly special, Richard’s presence left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Born on July 7, 1949, in Randolph County, Richard was the son of the late Anthony "Bud" and Lenora Thieman. He grew up in Salisbury, MO, and attended St. Joseph Catholic Schools. It was there that he excelled on the basketball court, but more importantly, where he developed the deep, lifelong friendships that he would carry with him for the rest of his life.

Following high school, Richard was drafted into the United States Army, serving honorably until 1971. Upon returning to civilian life, his early career began with the railroad. However, his most cherished professional chapter was spent in sheet metal, where he was a proud and dedicated lifelong member of Local 2. Following his retirement from the trade, Richard transitioned into real estate, serving clients throughout the Kansas City area. To Richard, those he worked with weren't just clients; they almost always became dear friends.

Outside of work, Richard was a man of many passions. He was a devoted fan of "all things MU" and could often be found on the golf course. As an avid golfer and a member of the "Duffers," he found great joy in the game and the camaraderie it provided. Whether on the course or in the community, Richard was known as a friend to all.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Lenora, as well as his younger brother, Keith Thieman.

His memory will be kept alive by his daughter, Kristyn; his extended family members; and a vast circle of lifelong friends who were like family to him.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Midwest Kidney Transplant Foundation, an organization that reflects Richard’s spirit of giving and care for others.
