It is with deep love and gratitude for a well-lived life that we announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Box, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91, spending his final days surrounded by family. He was born on January 9, 1934 in Kansas City, MO to the late John and Mildred Box.
Bob was the beloved husband of the late Lois Eileen Box for 50 years. He was the loving father of Kelly Wilson and Kris Hauff. Bob was the proud grandfather of two granddaughters, Tabatha and Nicole; one grandson, Robert; and two great granddaughters, Kimberly and Kiley. He was the brother of Carol Taylor. Bob is also survived by one niece Lisa, one nephew Steven, and many cousins, and friends.
Born on January 9, 1934, and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Bob grew up with a strong sense of duty, integrity, and curiosity about the world. All values that would guide him throughout his life. That curiosity blossomed into a lifelong love of travel and adventure, as he embraced new places, cultures, and experiences with enthusiasm and openness. Above all else, Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather (or to us Papa), friend, and veteran. He will be remembered for his quick wit, generous spirit, adventurous heart, and deep love for his family and his country. His stories were often filled with humor and lessons learned from a life well lived.
Bob proudly dedicated 28 years of his life to serving in the United States Marine Corps. A Marine through and through, he carried the Marine spirit with honor, humility, and pride “Oorah”. The military service allowed him to see the world, and he treasured the memories and friendships formed along the way. Even after retiring from active duty, Bob remained deeply connected to the military community as a proud member of the Marine Corps League and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he valued camaraderie and continued service to fellow veterans. Following his military service, he pursued and completed his business degree at Rockhurst University, reflecting his lifelong belief in growth, learning, and perseverance.
On March 29, 1959, he married the love of his life, Lois. Together they shared 50 beautiful years of marriage, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering partnership. Whether at home or traveling together, they embraced life side by side. They raised two daughters Kelly & Kris, and through them, their family continued to grow, becoming one of his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.
Bob leaves behind a legacy of service, strength, curiosity, and love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
