He was born April 18, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Claude Carl Jr. and Helen Louise (Kelley) Kimbrell. He graduated from Park Hill High School. Shortly after high school, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy and served in Vietnam. He was a steel worker by trade and retired from Ryerson Steel.
Roger married the love of his life, Barbara May Allen in 1976.
He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and a longtime, very active member of the American Legion. Roger also was very active with his children’s extracurricular activities and was a HUGE fan of the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Sr. and Helen Kimbrell; and his wife, Barbara Kimbrell.
He is survived by one brother, Carl Kimbrell (Paula); two sisters, Karen Kimbrell, and Lee Ann (runt) Semsch (Jerry); one daughter, Kathy Ross, two sons, Clinton Kimbrell (Melissa), and James Kimbrell (Candace); 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to The Multiple Sclerosis Society at nationalmssociety.org, in memory of his love, Barbara May.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Kansas City Hospital for grace and compassion.
A graveside service for Roger will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 AM, at White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
