

Trudy was born on February 7, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Cecil “Jack” and Lenora Peck. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1957. Trudy married David Cheney, her high school sweetheart, in 1958. The couple had three children. Trudy’s family and friends remember her as the matriarch of her extensive family, always putting her children and grandchildren at the center of her life. Trudy was a sassy, loving, and caring individual who loved spending time with her family; she enjoyed wintering in Texas, travelling, and was passionate about bakeries. She and her beloved daughter, sister, and grandchildren would search high and low for a new bakery experience.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Lenora Peck of Kansas City; her brother Jack Peck, III of Kansas City; and her son David Cheney, Jr., also of Kansas City.
Trudy is survived by her husband, David Cheney of Kansas City; sister, Diane Campbell of Kansas City; son, Mark Cheney (Tracey) of Kansas City; daughter, Susan Edgar (John) of Kansas City; daughter-in-law, Donna Cheney of Kansas City; nephew, Brian Thackrah (Phil) of Kansas City; grandson, Jason Cheney (Abi) of Greenwood; granddaughter Melinda Cheney (Katie) of Kansas City; grandson Eric Cheney of Kansas City; grandson Joshua Cheney of Rockport, Texas; grandson, Jeffrey Cheney (Hillary) of Kansas City; grandson, Steven Cheney (Annie) of Kansas City; and grandson Bret Little, also of Kansas City. Trudy leaves eight amazing great grandchildren that filled her heart daily.
A Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Friday, June 23, 2023, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2:00 pm, both at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri. 64119. Immediately following the services, a reception will be held at The Coves North Clubhouse, 8615 NW Waukomis Drive, Kansas City, Missouri. 64154. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Trudy's life, her family invites you to come comfortable and wear your casual clothes.
