Mr. Allen, or Uncle Dee as I referred to him, will always hold a special place in my heart. Growing up, I would look forward to the times when Uncle Dee would take me to Royals games. When I chose to do a school project on his time in the service, Uncle Dee was gracious enough to spend an afternoon telling me about his experiences and I was proud to have him as a family member and role model. Through the years we have kept in touch with occasional letters and I think that is what I will remember most about him. With his letters, he taught me the importance of taking the time to let someone know you are thinking about them. I will miss not receiving these special notes from Uncle Dee but feel grateful I had the pleasure to know him and am happy he is now reunited with his wife. Thank you, Uncle Dee, for showing us how to be good men. Rest peacefully. 

Mr. Allen (Victor) was our neighbor, and over the years,  I would make lots of Christmas goodies and always made sure I brought over a big bag of Chex Mix and other goodies, for him and David to enjoy. He always thanked me for bringing the Christmas goodies and he enjoyed eating the goodies while watching TV.  In past years when I had extra home-grown tomatoes, I would bring him over some, and I recall bringing him some fresh green beans and he politely told me, he didn't much care for green beans. I have missed seeing him sitting on his front enclosed porch watching TV and sitting in his easy-chair, and seeing him put up the Christmas lights on his front porch windows. It always looked very festive.
Mr. Allen earned his Angel wings and he will surely be missed.
