Wanda Sue (Bond) Decker entered into eternal peace surrounded by many loved ones on Sunday, April 7, 2024.
Wanda Sue was born to parents George and Lela Bond on February 25, 1939. She was the sixth of nine children in the Bond Family. The family lived in Kansas City, where Wanda attended Northeast High School, graduating in 1957.
In the fall of 1956 Wanda met the love of her life, Larry M. Decker, and was united in marriage March 2, 1957. The loving couple was blessed with 5 children,19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends were everything to the Deckers. Wanda’s favorite times were holidays (especially Christmas), Sunday family dinners, annual family reunions, and anything that involved holding babies, cooking, or caring for someone. Wanda and Larry took in any and all, even caring for family members while raising their young family. While in Ontario for Larry’s work, they connected with Mark, Lindsey, Matt, and Mitch, who became “family”. Wanda loved everyone she met. She never met a stranger.
Wanda is preceded in passing by her husband, Larry Michael Decker (8.7.2012); her son, John Eric Decker (4.8.2005); her parents George and Lela Bond; daughter- in- law, Darla Kramel; Siblings -- Virginia Jamison, Jack Bond, Ruth Moran, and Carol Baccala, along with other significant and dear family members and friends.
Wanda is survived by a multitude of the Decker/Bond Family…
Siblings: Van Bond, Gary (Karee) Bond, Ron (Jeannie) Bond, David (Dana) Bond
Children: Steven M. (Tammy) Decker, Jim (Gerry) Decker, Paul Decker, Susan (Dennis) Freed. Wanda and Larry’s love extended to 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great–great grandchildren, as well as many very special nieces and nephews.
Wanda was so honored to knit baby blankets for each new family member. She worked several jobs throughout her life, which she loved very much. Volunteering at a local hospital was one of her post-retirement “callings.” Wanda is fondly remembered for: baking a cake & vacuuming before allowing the family’s Plymouth station wagon to leave the driveway for their vacation destinations; beautiful bows on each present she gave; hosting gatherings; her famous fried chicken & potato salad; Christmastime Chex Mix, cookies & candies; her love of dancing & listening to music; movies—especially the Hallmark Channel!!
Wanda is an honest, kind, giving, beautiful soul--inside and out. She is missed by all. Every single child, grandchild, niece, nephew, brother, sister, the in-laws & the out-laws, and all friends were special to Wanda in their own unique way….go in peace and pay it forward.
Anywaaaaayyyyssssssss…
Wanda would love donations in her honor to help construct a covered ramp/walkway at her church so that the mobility-challenged can attend mass and services with dignity.
