91, of Phoenix passed away on November 30, 2013. Another loss from what is known as our greatest generation. Born to Anton Stremel and Anna Sauer, August 21, 1922 in a small German farming community in Loretta, Kansas, he was the 9th child of 13. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1940 until he was honorably discharged on December 27, 1946. Amongst the ships he served, the majority of his time in service was on "The Big E", the U.S.S. Enterprise, the most decorated ship in WWII. These are the years he maintained some of his fondest memories. He moved to Phoenix in 1954 to open a Maid-Rite restaurant. He eventually worked for McKesson Corp. and retired in 1984. He was a loving son, husband, and most loving father. He is survived by his sister, Martha Issinghoff, his ex-wife Lupe Favela, his children Diana (Danny) Rodriguez, Lynn Anthony (Tammy Lind) Stremel, CC (Robert Chavez) Stremel, Ken (Diane) Scott, Rose Marie (Ed Mell) Stremel, Monica (Mark) Henderson, 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. A viewing and rosary will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 7924 N. 59th Ave. - Glendale, AZ on December 9, 2013 at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul 3130 N. 51st Ave. - Phoenix, AZ on December 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Our thanks to his caregivers, Wanda, Carleen, Jaime, Diana, Mary, Maria and his Hospice Team.
