It is with a heavy heart that the family of Alberta “June” Kent announces her peaceful passing in her residence on Tuesday December 6, 2022 at the age of 80. June is lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her three children: Russell Strong, Sherry McCallum and Scott Strong, along with six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is survived by three of her siblings: Gloria Barnes, LaVerta Ward and Albert Moore Jr.
“June,” as she was affectionately known, was born in Coolidge, Arizona on February 9, 1942 to father Albert C. Moore and mother Lavella I. Moore (O’Donnell). June is fondly remembered by so many during her time with us. Family was everything. Her unyielding dedication and overabundance of love to those she cherished was unsurpassed. Always a devoted mother, she managed to provide a great childhood for her three children as she raised them alone with limited resources. Her genuine smile revealed just how much she cared and the joy she carried in her heart. She always endeavored to make sure your needs were met and strived to make things better. One of her favorite things to tell us was “I love you, a bushel and a peck, and a hug around the neck,” often accompanied by the best hug you could imagine.
June was a devoted Christian. Aided in every step of life by her love of Jesus Christ and tried to lead by his example to navigate the path she took. Her time in the kitchen was something she truly enjoyed, preparing home cooked meals that never disappointed. She blessed us with her beautiful piano talents, accompanying for the church throughout the years and playing for her family when she was afforded the chance. Often you could find her spending her free time crocheting beautiful items to gift to those around her.
A funeral service with burial will be held Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 9:00 AM West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301).
