Reid & Neil - My fondest memory of your dad was back in 1996.  I had a kidney transplant and needed transportation to the Transplant Center twice a week for 4 weeks to get checked out.  Barb was a full time student then and couldn't do it.  Your dad was quick to volunteer.  I was amazed at how much he knew about everything from the bible to American Motors.  We had a great time.  He was such a kind, caring, and generous man.  I will miss him.  God bless you and your families

Reid and Neal, there is an empty spot in our lives because Al was such a kind, patient and generous person.  He was always thinking of others and what he could do for them.  It was a special privilege to be his pastor for the better part of six years.  His compassion and generosity will be long remembered by me and my family.  You couldn't help but see Christ lived out in his life.  We were all blessed by his life.  Let the Christ who he knew comfort you now.

Reid and Neil - Your dad has been a part of my life for 50 years.  He and your mother were my youth leader at church, Sunday School teachers and dear friends.  Your father has been a great example of a strong, steadfast and kind Christian man all his life.  I'm blessed to have had him in my life.  God Bless and Comfort you.

Reid and Neil, I'm so sorry for your lost. I thought the world of Al and my sister couldn't have married a better person. I my eyes he as a great man. husband and father. I'm sorry we live so far apart and our family haven,t gotten to know each others. But you are always in my thoughts.

May you rest in peace Al. I shall never forget how you welcomed me into your bowling group with open arms. Neil and Reid, I am so very sorry for your loss. Your FATHER was a wonderful, kind, loving and caring man. He talked about you both quite often and as I mentioned to Neil, he also taught me a lot about history, a subject that he knew a lot about. I feel so privileged to have known him. He will always hold a very special place in my heart. I know that he will be missed very much by all of the seniors of the Senior Joy League and especially me. My Grandmother always used to tell me when I was just a little toddler that every time I heard thunder, it was an Angel bowling up in heaven getting a strike. I am happy to share with you a fond remembrance of AL from 2005 when he bowled with us in the Senior Olympics.

If it weren't for Al, I would never have joined the Joy Bowling League.  I remember the day I drove over to Christown Lanes to "scope out" the group, and I met Al and watched him bowl.  He gave me the encouragement I needed to take the first step, and I have had a new family ever since.  We all love Al, and will miss him terribly.  He loved to bowl.  He would always get upset if he didn't feel that he was doing his best.  Of course, he gave his best every day.  Dorothy

Dear Reid and Neil, your dad was a wonderful Godly man and an example to everyone of quiet dedication and service.  Both he and your mom were special people in our church at 16th Street and I remember them with great fondness. God bless you in the days ahead.

I have only known Al for the past 7 years.  Personally I enjoyed the fun side of him.  He loved football, eating, basketball, eating, and he especially loved bowling. Several years ago he beat my 19 year old granddaughter at bowling on the Wii in our living room. He was like a part of our family and we will surely miss him.

May God continue to sustain you all through this week and in days ahead,  your dad will be greatly missed. My name was left off my previous comment, please know that I am thinking of you at this time.

Reid and Neal, I am so sorry to hear of your loss.  Words cannot express what I would like to say to you guys, only that your Dad was kind to me, Aunt Velma, Brent, Darla and Ron and most of all he was a wonderful husband to my sister.  I know that at this time he in the arms of God and with Carolyn.  I thank God for him and his life.  I pray that God will grant you the love, grace and peace in your hearts and lives as you grieve.  I am so sorry that the miles have kept us separated these past years.  Now may the Lord bless and keep you and give you His peace.

Al exemplified a servant's heart and was a great Christian influence on my family. He was a constant in my church. I am thankful for his faithfulness and his heart. I still have the looseleaf hymnal he gave me, and I will continue to treasure that keepsake. God be with all the family.

When I moved to AZ right after 9/11, my company was on a hiring freeze and I couldn't get back to work for several weeks.  During that time Al brought us groceries and some supplies to get us through that difficult time.  I will never forget him or his kindness or his Christ-likeness.  Now he's getting his reward one hundred fold or more, I'm so glad!

I have memories of your dad and your mom from way back at First Church when I was quite young, then through the years when you boys were born, and then later at Sixteenth Street and Missouri Park...during those years your folks influenced countless numbers of people through their teaching and their examples of love and faith and service to everyone. I am happy to have been under their teaching and to see how their faith inspired so many people. You are privileged to have them as your parents. We will now miss your dad and his quiet witness to all he met, and his constant willingness to take care of the "little" things that most people didn't even know about.  He never had a negative word to say about anyone, and always loved his God and his church and gave his all for them.  May God be with your families in days ahead.....
