Armando Anthony “Army” De Santis passed away under the precious care of his dedicated daughter Jane and her family. He was 95 years old. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rose. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Army was born in an apartment above a bakery in Chicago’s Little Italy, which inspired his lifelong affection for pastries. His parents, Cesira and Aristide, were from Italy. He was a veteran, police officer, and truck driver. Grounded in his Catholic faith and Italian heritage, Army had a fierce devotion to his wife, family, friends, and community. He was a hardy and empathetic man who appreciated football, music, traveling, square dancing, books, coffee, sitcoms, and game shows. He loved and accepted others wholeheartedly. His name is on the Honor Roll at the National World War II Museum.
