Arthur Reyes Amparano deeply loved his wife, Yolanda, vegetable gardening, walking his dogs Jack and Jack II in the park, and praising Jesus, God and the Holy Ghost every Sunday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glendale. The son of the late Ignacio and Grace Amparano, Arthur was born on April 13, 1939 in Glendale, Arizona, and passed away with his family at his bedside on July 21, 2014.
Arthur graduated from Glendale High School, where he was a champion wrestler. He was a cement mason for more than 40 years and a proud member of Plasters and Cement Masons Local 394. He was known for his kindness to strangers, the caring he showed his grandchildren, and his love for TV westerns and programs about wildlife and nature, like Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. He grew the tastiest, reddest, plumpest tomatoes in the neighborhood. He believed that hard work and the ability to provide for his family defined a man. He knew how to say thank you to those who loved him. He always gave more than he took in life. He believed in God and the church and the power of prayer. He was respected by everyone who knew him.
Arthur is survived by his loving wife, Yolanda, his siblings, Elena Morris, Grace Gutierrez and Frank Andrade; his daughters, Julie Amparano Garcia and Anita Padron; his sons, Arthur Amparano, Jr. and Danny Amparano; his grandchildren, Jesse and Candice Flores, Arielle Lopez, Nolan, Marcella, Daniel and Roslynn Amparano, Elise Amparano Garcia, and Marisa Padron; and his great grandchildren Amaeya, Gabriela, Isabel and Alyssa Flores, and Jayson Amparano.
