August Edward Anderson

August "Gus" Anderson 78 of Phoenix, AZ. was received into the arms of our Lord Saturday April 25th 2015 following a lengthy and courageous battle with prostate cancer. Gus was born in Ridgway PA. on March 24 1937 to the late Alvin and Amelia Anderson. He resided in Ridgway all of his young life and met Carol (Herzog), his bride of 57 years while attending Ridgway High School. Gus and Carol were married in their hometown in 1958. Gus joined the Air Force in 1956 and was stationed in Finland, MN. He received training in electronics maintenance while enlisted and later worked for General Electric, Honeywell, and Bull as a systems maintenance engineer and later director. Gus and Carol also lived in Syracuse and Buffalo NY, as well as Schaumburg IL., but spent most of their adult life raising their family in Phoenix, AZ. Gus enjoyed coaching his children's softball and soccer teams when they were young. He also enjoyed fishing, reading, golf, old westerns; Carol's cooking, but mostly time spent with family. Gus was preceded in death by his son, Michael his brother, Steven and his parents Alvin and Amelia. He is survived by his wife Carol of Phoenix, AZ., daughters, Susan of Glendale, AZ. and Cathie of Salome, AZ., son Jon of Surprise, AZ, brother Rich of Pollocksville, NC., and sister Donna of South Windsor, CT.
