Barbara Nonearl Black

Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband and high school sweetheart, Curtis Black, the love of her life. Together, they built a beautiful family and a legacy of love that will carry on for generations.

She is survived by her four children, Sally Olsen (Lars), Jimmy Black (Carol), John Black, and Kathy DeCoster (Ken). Barbara was a devoted grandmother to 13 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandmother to many.

Barbara was an incredibly talented artist who shared her gift with others by teaching private lessons for many years. She was a dedicated member of multiple art clubs, where she formed lasting friendships and inspired countless others with her creativity. Her love of nature also shone through her involvement in the local bird club. For many years, she lovingly hand-raised birds, finding great joy and fulfillment in caring for them.

Barbara and Curtis were fortunate to travel the world together, creating memories in places far and wide. Their adventures took them all over Europe, as well as to Japan, Singapore, China, Australia, Africa, and many other destinations. These experiences enriched their lives and deepened their bond, leaving behind a treasure trove of stories and memories for their family to cherish.

She was an incredible mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Those who knew Barbara will always remember her warmth, kindness, and the way she made every person feel loved and valued. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Barbara’s life was one of devotion—to her family, her art, her love of nature, and the joy she found in every corner of the world. She will be deeply missed, yet forever remembered with love.

A viewing will be held on October 1, 2025, at 10:00 am at West Resthaven Funeral Home, located at 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona.

A visitation will take place at the same venue on October 1, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

The funeral service is scheduled for October 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at West Resthaven Funeral Home.

Following the funeral service, a committal service will occur at Resthaven Park Cemetery, located at 6450 West Northern Avenue, Glendale, Arizona, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm.
