

93, of Glendale, AZ passed away on July 30, 2011. Beatrice, wife of Dr. Moffat A.C. Gardner (previously deceased), enjoyed many interesting careers during her lifetime. She was a "Rosie the Riveter," building ships during WWII. From 1957 to 1960 she attended many Embassy functions in Tokyo, Japan with her husband, who was a liaison officer for the United Nations Military Command Far East. She also worked for civil services at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, later transferring to become the Personal Secretary to the Commanding General at Luke AFB in 1967. During this time she completed her college teaching degree, retired from civil service, and became a teacher. Teaching was her passion. She first taught at Glendale Elementary and then Horizon Elementary, where she taught until she was 70 years old. She is survived by her daughters Arras Anne Moffat and Bethe Bennett, her son Moffat Gardner II, thirteen grandchildren, and a multitude of great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing for Beatrice at the Chapel of the Chimes on August 11th from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church on August 12th from 9am to 10:30am. The graveside burial service following the church service will be held at Phoenix Memorial Cemetery. There will be a reception after the graveside service at 8124 N. 45th Ave, Glendale. All memorial events are open to family and friends that knew and loved Beatrice.
