Carlin Evelene Houx, affectionately known as Carol, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, in Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 81. Born on July 15, 1944, in Roland, Arkansas, Carlin was a beloved daughter of the late Marion E. and Verlin M. Anderson.
Carol always considered her family her truest joy and though she endured the loss of her husband Robert Houx and son Wayne Houx, as well as brothers Buford Anderson, William Anderson and Eddie Anderson, Carol’s family bond remained her foundation.
She is survived by her sister Imagene & Curtis Kittrell, sister Linda Moseley, sister Sinda Fischer, sister Virginia & Richard Medina, brother James & Sandi Anderson, Cathy Anderson, Christine Houx, her daughter Bobbie Tarazon, her grandchildren Kylie & Jaeden Grimes and Lisha Vanderpool, and an abundant extended family.
A woman defined by her strong, independent, and caring nature, Carol brought warmth and joy wherever she went. She was known for her fun-loving spirit and a healthy dash of stubbornness that powered her to live life on her own terms. Carol found peace and happiness in painting, tending to her koi pond, and cultivating her flower garden. and spending time with those she loved.
Carol’s legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, as a woman of conviction, resilience, and profound strength. Her absence leaves an unfillable space, but her memory continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call her family or friend.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, located at 7924 North 59th Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301, on August 23, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the celebration, a reception will take place at the same location from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
