Carlos Cortez

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Transito Alicia de Cortez, his children: Jose (Consuelo), Carlos (Blanqui), Rafael (Eva), Luis (Dawn), Ana (Udy) and Jose, along with grandchildren: Jeffrey, Arely, Carlos, Martha, Justin, Luis, Luis Herrera, Carlos (Tony), Joseph and Blanca, as well as great grandchildren: Callia, Demetria and Nicolas. He is also survived by his sisters Magdalena Turcios and Norma Toledo and brothers Marco Cortez, Hector Toledo and Adalberto Toledo and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his oldest daughter, Martha, and his siblings Rafael Cortez, Alvaro Cortez, Jose Americo Toledo and Maria del Carmen Cortez.

Carlos immigrated to Chicago in 1969 to provide a better life for his wife and children. He was employed at Reliable Electric Company until his retirement. He shared a close bond with his family. He was not only a father figure to his children and grandchildren but to his nieces and nephews. He was happiest when he was with family. He loved watching sports. He was a die hard Cubs fan and passed his love of sports on to his children and grandchildren. He was the heart of his family and will be missed always.

A visitation for Carlos will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 12:00 PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home (6450 West Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301), followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
