Daniel Gerard Chervenka, a beloved resident of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on August 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on July 24, 1947, Daniel was known for his gentle, hard-working, and honest nature. He was a kind-hearted, thoughtful, and wise man who touched the lives of many.
Daniel grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Kent State University. As a child, his family moved frequently due to his father's service, including a stint in Germany. Daniel was the second oldest of six siblings.
During the Vietnam War, Daniel was drafted into the Army. An injury during boot camp meant he was never deployed, allowing him to be present for the birth of his first child. Following his military service, Daniel pursued a career as a graphic designer, a profession he enjoyed until his retirement. He often humorously referred to himself as a "stripper," a term used in the graphic design field.
Daniel's family was the center of his world. He was first married to Linda, with whom he had four children. Although they later divorced, they shared custody of their children. In 1985, Daniel met Cynthia "Cindi" at a bar where they played pool. Their friendship blossomed into love, and they married later that year, blending their families to include six children. Daniel was the fun parent, taking the children camping, boating, and fishing in Sedona.
An artist at heart, Daniel loved golf, playing pool, and fishing. He enjoyed watching the Game Show Network and cop shows, and he never missed watching golf on weekends. He was also a member of the Cave Creek Men's Golf Association.
Daniel was a patient and fair man, known for his honesty and being a wonderful listener. Being a good father was of utmost importance to him, and he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Chervenka, and his daughters, Carol Hodges, Amy Mundy and her husband Mark Mundy, Christina Farrell and her partner David Buckley, and Laura Frye. He is also survived by his brother Michael Chervenka Jr. and his wife Mary Chervenka, sister Judy Carlson and her husband Glenn Carlson, brother James "Jim" Chervenka, and brother Chris Chervenka and his wife Candice Chervenka. Daniel is fondly remembered by his grandchildren, his future great-granddaughter, and many more friends and family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy "Cynthia" Chervenka, his son, Dan Chervenka Jr., his sister, Monica Spellman, and his parents, Irene and Michael Chervenka.
Daniel's gentle spirit and unwavering loyalty will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
