

84, of Sun City, passed away Aug. 8, 2016. He was born May 8, 1932 to Maurice and Dorothy Buchanan in Cassville, Wisc. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1950 where he played football, basketball and baseball. David then attending Platteville State College before going on to the University of Wisconsin where he earned a bachelor’s degree in dairy science. He married Marian Welsh in June of 1953. After selling the Livingston (Wisc.) Cheese Factory that he owned for 10 years, he moved to Phoenix in 1963 to become plant superintendent for Carnation Dairies, where he worked for 30 years before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, Cadillacs, sweets, spending time with his children and grandchildren and showing off his wood shop, where he handcrafted gifts for many occasions. He was active for many years in both the Phoenix and Sun City Elks, Lodges 335 and 2559. David was preceded in death by son James. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marian, son Sam (Pam), daughters Ann Gile (Joe), Susan Hanson (Scott), 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brother Maurie (Joyce) and sister Diane McKoy (Bill). Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 20 at 11 a.m.at the Congregational Church of Sun City, 18401 N. 99th Ave., Sun City, AZ 85373. Memorial contributions can be made to the 100 Club of Arizona, 333 N. 44th St., Ste. 100, Phoenix, AZ 85008, and the Congregational Church of Sun City.
