Donna led a full life. She was a military brat and a military spouse. She lived from Asia to Europe, from New York to Arizona.
I asked her awhile back if there was anything she ever regretted in her life, and she told me, “All I ever wanted was to
be a mom.” And what a mom she was! She was there to support her boys in whatever they were doing, whether it was Boy Scouts or football games and everything in between. You could tell how proud of them she was whenever she talked about them.
One of my favorite memories with her was when we all went to Universal Studios. We were on the Back to the Future ride. I looked over at her and she was holding on for dear life with her eyes closed. I laughed so hard at that. She wasn’t afraid of much, but I guess rides were one thing she was afraid of.
Donna was bigger than life. She was boisterous, opinionated, strong, loyal, and loving. She was fierce when it came to family and friends, always in our corner. Life sure isn’t going to be the same without her.
Your memory is my keepsake
with which I’ll never part.
God has you in his keeping,
I’ll keep you in my heart.
I love you, sis,
Your Punk
I wanted to say a few words about my Mom Donna Lee Bennett
She was a brilliant individual. She pushed barriers and pushed herself. “Forearm” Vance was a legend in the Bennett family. I would always hear how other moms would shop and talk fashion, that was not my mom. She would play in the mud and fish and shoot guns and encourage us to be better human beings. We would still bait her hook and she was incredibly girly when she had to be. She would try to skateboard with us, watch football, play GI Joe’s never missing an opportunity to spend time with us. She was proud of her boys and took every chance to tell someone about them. As a grandma she did her best at every chance to encourage her grandkids to be who they wanted to be. We all called her ditsy and sometimes laughed with her at her lack of knowledge on different subjects. She had no problem laughing at herself with us and made the most of life. I was never sad while she was around, always trying to make the best of things. I will never be sad in the future while I think of you mom.
We Love you.
