Eddie was born in Glendale, Arizona, and grew up in Mabscott, West Virginia, where he developed the strong work ethic, bold personality, and deep-rooted values that shaped the man he became.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of God whose strength, humor, and presence left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him.
For decades, Eddie worked as a skilled mechanic, dedicating his life to the craft he loved. Cars and racing weren’t just hobbies — they were part of who he was. Whether he was welding, building, fixing, or working in the pits for Papa’s races, Eddie’s hands were rarely still. He proudly called himself a “jack of all trades, master of none,” though those who knew him would say he mastered just about anything he put his mind to. If something was broken, he could fix it. If something needed building, he could build it.
Eddie was loud, bold, and unapologetically himself — a funny redneck in the most genuine way. His laugh was unforgettable, his stories were colorful, and his presence filled every room. He loved fiercely, worked hard, and lived fully.
Above all, Eddie was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; his children, Ed, David (Stacey), Douglas (Danielle), Ashley, and Tyler; and his cherished grandchildren, Cora, David Jr., Jade, Hayden, Emma, Blayke, Hayden, Jett, Jose Jr., Isabella, Knox, Cash, Carter, Georgia, Beckett and Brody. He is also survived by his siblings, Debi Shields, Kim (Terry) Johnson, Sandy (Bobby) English, and Lisa (Jeff) Zygmunt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Esley and Charlotte Campbell, and his mother-in-law, Linda VanBruggen.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on March 10, 2026.
His legacy of love, faith, strength, and laughter will continue in all who were blessed to know him.
