George attended Emerson Elementary School through the 8th grade. He attended Phoenix Union High School his freshman year and North High School his last three years, graduating with the class on 1971.
After high school, George pursued his childhood dreams of becoming a Greek Orthodox priest at Hellenic College in Brookline, Massachusetts. George was one semester shy of becoming a priest when he had a change of heart and decided the priesthood was not his calling and he returned to Phoenix.
His compassion to help people didn't end after leaving the seminary. George had many friends. he was in the transport business and gave rides to all in need. In the old neighborhood where he grew up, he was known for letting people stay at his home. If he didn't have room and a bed available in the house, he would find someplace for them to sleep.
George is survived by an older sister, Andreanna and younger brother, Sammy, his nieces Paige and Kimberly, nephews Timothy and Joshua and his great-nephews, Gunnar and Gavin. He is predeceased by his parents, Nick and Helen Georgiou.
Services will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral (1973 E. Maryland Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85016). Viewing will begin at 9:00 AM and service will begin at 10:00 AM. After services, George will be laid to rest at Resthaven Park Cemetery (6450 W. Northern Ave, Glendale, AZ 85301) with a repast luncheon to follow.
