

Gerald S. Wacker, 82, of Peoria, Arizona passed away on August 28, 2020. Known to his family and friends as “Jerry, he lived his entire life in Peoria. Jerry was born on July 11, 1938 to Jake and Dora Wacker (who married 1937). Jerry is a 3rd generation “Wacker”. Back in 1917 the 1st generation purchased 320 acres at the area of 83rd Ave between Thunderbird and Cactus Rd. This land was farmed until the mid 1970's, and then in the 1990’s was sold to a developer; now known as Wacker Rd.
Growing up in Peoria, Jerry, helped his dad on the farm and went to school. He attended Peoria High School, where his mother, Dora, taught in the 1930’s. He was proud to be a native of Peoria. After high school he joined US Air Force, and married after returning home. Jerry got a job with a local
Pharmaceutical distributer, which he made a career, until he retired.
His favorite past time was watching baseball, having dinner with family and sharing pancakes with his grandson. In younger years he loved to go to the Ben Avery shooting range and practice with friends. Jerry was an active member of the community keeping ties with friends and being a member of the Peoria Historical Society. Jerry had an amazing memory of the old days and loved to tell his stories to anyone that would listen. He was proud of being a native of Peoria.
Jerry is survived by his stepdaughter, Linda; step-son, Brent and his wife Diane; grandson, Ron; and cousins’ Rita Phillips and Boyden Phillips and family.
Jerry is preceded by his parents Jake and Dora Wacker.
