Gerry wasn’t just someone you knew, she was someone you felt. From the moment she smiled at you, you were hers. That smile, full of warmth and a little bit of mischief, is what so many will carry with them forever.
She was quirky in the best ways, charismatic without even trying, and endlessly curious about everything and everyone. Gerry liked to know what was going on and if she didn’t, she would find out. She used to joke around about needing to live forever because she was too nosey to miss out on anything, and honestly, that was her. She was engaged in life, in people, and in the little moments that others might overlook.
Some of her happiest times were the simplest ones, sitting on her front porch, watching hummingbirds, or just taking in the day. That porch was her place. It was where she could relax, laugh, and spend time with her dear friend and neighbor Norma. Their friendship meant so much- rides to appointments, shared trips, and countless everyday moments that became special just because they were together.
Gerry loved her shows- she had her favorites and stuck to them. Whether it was The Curse of Oak Island, Matlock, Elsbeth, or a good true crime story, she found comfort and enjoyment in those routines. She also loved good food, especially anything Wayne cooked, and always enjoyed going out to Red Lobster. Her favorite color was Red, which somehow fits perfectly for someone who lived with so much personality and heart.
She carried both joy and heartbreak in her life. One of the dearest losses was the passing of her son Danny, a pain she never truly let go of. In the last 10 years, she faced many health challenges, the kind that change your daily life in ways that most people won’t see. Because of that she didn’t get to spend much time with family as she would have liked. But that love never faded. It was always there.
Gerry is preceded in death by her loving parent; Hila Campana and Philip Campana and her siblings Nancy Rayno, Joan Golden, and Sandra Michon. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa and her all-time favorite son-in-law, Wayne. He brought her comfort, laughter, and of course good meals. She was incredibly proud of her grandchildren- Jennifer, Kimberly, Austin, and Lupita- and her nine great grandchildren, each of them a continuation of her story.
If you had to describe Gerry, you’d probably laugh before you answered. She was funny, loving, caring, and friendly- but she could also be a little bit stubborn, a little feisty, and yes, a bit of a pain in the ass. And that’s exactly what made her unforgettable.
She didn’t live a quiet life- she lived a real one. Full of personality, connection, humor, and love. And while she may be gone, the feeling she left behind- the laughter, the stories, the warmth- will stay with everyone who knew her.
Gerry will always be missed, always remembered, and always loved.
