

Gordon Steven Rames, a vibrant soul whose passion for life inspired all who knew him, passed away on April 28, 2025, in Waddell, Arizona, at 82. Born on December 6, 1942, with his twin sister Karmen in Mitchell, South Dakota, he was raised in Glendale, Arizona, by his teacher parents, Sylvia and Steve.
A proud Arizona State University graduate with a master’s in industrial technology from Northern Arizona University, Gordon taught at Carl Hayden High School from 1967 to 1999, shaping young men into skilled machinists, welders, and technicians. Known as “Rames,” he was revered by students. He served as a navigator in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, embodying courage and service.
Gordon was a master of joy, planning adventures like skiing, trips to the Sand Dunes, a motorcycle ride through the Alps, and RV journeys. A devoted ASU football fan, he cherished weekly dinners with lifelong friends. His 33-year marriage to Elinor was a cornerstone of his life, filled with shared love and memories that endure.
He leaves behind his devoted children, Sam Rames and Lindsay (Rames) Corrington; son-in-law Aaron, whom he loved like a son; fourteen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a community enriched by his warmth. Gordon’s legacy of love and laughter lives on.
