I think I went to elementary school at St Vincent de Paul with this man.  We graduated 8th grade in 1967.

It's your 60th Birthday and I've thought about you all day as I so often do. We all miss you!!! Hope you had a "Heaven of a Birthday" and celebrated with Mom and the rest of the family.

Uncle Herman, You were one of the GREATEST!!!  You taught me the game of footballâ€¦GO STEELERS! And the love of baseballâ€¦GO YANKEES! I loved to give you any year just so you can tell me who won the world series, super bowl, and any historical event that happened. I still think you should have been a history teacher. To this day I learned more about history from you than any teacher I've ever had. I loved to talk to you about anything you watched on TV, and I'll miss you turning the radio/TV up when one of your favorite songs came on just so you can do the quirky moves with the funny face, snapping your fingers to the tune, and just to make us laugh dance â€¦I'll miss you during the holidays the most though; especially, hiding the empanadas and cookies from youâ€¦yes, you were the stingy one (HAHAHA). I'll treasure all the talks we had when we went to go pick up Ernie; especially, all the advice you gave about men, live life your way, not to have any regrets for the mistakes you make, to say sorry after an argument(even if you're wrong) and never change the person you are for anyoneâ€¦I Love You Uncle Herman

made you like a brother to me as well. It has been many years since I have seen you but I still heard alot about you when Darrell had time to visit with you.

Was shocked and saddened to hear of your passing.  Although we lost touch, I never forgot that smile and the fun times we had at Glenn L Downs.  The parties we had, my mom coming out on the patio as a bunch of us were playing spin the bottle, thinking we were so grown up.  That smile was infectious, and Jeannie and I were fortunate to get to be included with the "fun" crowd when we moved to AZ.  Your family is in my thoughts and prayers.  Thank you for your childhood friendship, you will not be forgotten.

My family and I are so sorry to hear of Herman,Jr's passing. please know that you are in our prayers. We may not be there to accompany you in person but do so in spirit. May the wonderful memories you have of your son/father/brother/grandfather help you through this difficult time.

It seems like yesterday... but our friendship started so many years ago. I never dreamed of ever saying good-bye. I'll never forget our youth, our adventures and the memories we made as friends. You truly were a BROTHER to me. One day we will reminisce together again. Until then, rest in peace.

Forgive me my Brother for not spending more time with you when I had the opportunity… Something I will have to live with for the rest of my life, however nothing will erase the memories of our childhood.  The first time we met in second grade we both knew that this was something special, and for many years we made the best of it.  When people saw one, they saw both of us. Hell, I was 13 before someone told me I was Italian and not Mexican, which after 45 years still comes as a shock. Must have been the great upbringing we had from Sr., Charlotte and Granma. 
You are now and forever will be my best friend, just ask anyone I could get to listen to me for more than a few minutes.
We will see each other again, and just like the last time we met we'll have a few and laugh of the great time we had.

Hey cuz,
You had a great ride ! You will be part of history at Glen L. Downs as the only undefeated, untied and unscored upon football team. Carried that through to Maryvale where I watched as you returned a pass interception for a touchdown against Camelback (very proud to say you were my cuz).  The Pittsburgh Steelers won a Super Bowl and the Yankees won a World Series.  You had many good friends and close family, with loving children wanting only the best for them.  Be proud of yourself and know you will be missed.  Christmas eve will never be the same, from midnight mass at St. Vincent de Paul and opening presents when we were young to re-living stories as we got older. My 'boys' just loved and looked forward to Christmas eve.  It was the highlight of their year.  Not having a brother I looked up to you and in many ways tried to be like you from the baggy sweat shirts, beanies from bouncing balls, and 'track' tennis shoes.  Loved trading baseball cards and playing our baseball game with dice and table hockey game (you cheater !).  Even though Uncle Tony would send you home for more 'ten ta ya' and threatend to put you on his income taxes you would keep coming back. Still remember our times at spring training chasing down foul balls and you rubbing Willie Mays' head (those were the days).  If you see Don Drysdale maybe now he will give you an autograph.  Say hi to your mom, my mom (Aunt Margaret) and dad (Uncle Tony) and Uncle Leo.  Some day may we share good times again.

I was honored to have called you a friend. We had many good times when we were young and made a lot of memories. I still relate some of the stories to others, in fact I told a few tales about our escapades to a co-worker yesterday.
