Janice Marie Badini

April 18, 1948 - February 1, 2025

Our beloved Janice “Sami” Marie Badini (Foutty) passed away unexpectedly February 1, 2025. Born in Akron, OH on April 18, 1948, she graduated from North High School in 1966, continued her education in advanced investigative analysts. She married in 1969; her wedding was featured in the local newspaper for having Model T cars take the wedding party from the church to the reception.

Sami was a caring & loving mother of three children, Robby, JoAnna and Tony. Nothing was more important to her than her family.

When her children were young, she packed them up and drove across the country to their new home in Phoenix, AZ, where she started life over as a single mom. Janice worked hard for her family and raised her kids with love, kindness and common sense. In OH she was an Investigator for the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Then in AZ, she retired as an Investigations Supervisor for the Industrial Commission of Arizona Labor Department after 25 years.

As her kids grew up and the family grew larger, Sami cherished family time with all her grandkids. Nothing made her happier than spending time with them. We all remember her delicious sleepover breakfasts, Italian cooking, especially her spaghetti & meatballs. We all fought to take home her famous cherry, blueberry and banana crème pies. She had a tradition of crocheting four feet tall, personalized Christmas stockings for everyone in the family. These stockings will be cherished mementos of her love.

She loved all bears equally, including her beloved chocolate lab, Bears, Chicago and grizzly.

Sami was a fearless free spirit who laughed easily, knew how to have a good time, was an incredible dancer and an absolute LEGEND in our family.

Sami is preceded in death by her mother Nettie Buzzelli, brother Jack Foutty and cherished son Robert L Badini. Left to mourn her passing are her daughter JoAnna M Badini (Pilo), son Tony Badini (Amy) and Bears. She was the best Nani ever to grandchildren Brittany, Brianna, Giovanni, Haley, Alyssa, Alexa, Angelo, Maria, Anthony, Alec, Makyhla and Kierra. Sami was blessed to have twelve great grandchildren: Dane, Scarlett, Bennett, Lily, Laela, Miyano, Nikoli, Analaia, Noah, Luca, Vinny and Liam.
