Joaquin Rivas Garcia, Sr. was born in Mexico City, Mexico on August 16, 1955 to the late Felipe and Teresa Rivas. He moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1996 in pursuit of his dreams and his family joined him in 1998.
In 1971, Joaquin met the love of his life and best friend, Rosa. From this union was born his three children, Joana, Joaquin, and Daniel.
Joaquin was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was an avid hunter, who loved the outdoors and looked forward to his yearly hunting trips with his family. Joaquin greatly enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren and his brothers and sisters.
On April 15, 2017 Joaquin departed to be in God’s arms. He is survived by his beloved wife Rosa, three children Joana (Jeremy) Rymer, Joaquin (Melina) Rivas & Daniel (Senyaze) Rivas, four siblings Felipe, Carmen, Maria & Rossy and eight grandchildren Genesis, Daniella, Damiyan, Scarlett, Mia, Daleyza, Luca & Santiago. In addition to his parents, Joaquin was preceded in death by his brother Rafael.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 1PM at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Avenue, Glendale.
