

John Michael Hook. 1935 - 2024 After a life of service, adventure and diversity, Jack went to his eternal home with Jesus on September 3, 2024. He was born on November 4, 1935 to John and Virginia Hook in Steubenville, Ohio. He moved to Glendale AZ with his parents at age 13. After graduation from Glendale High School he continued his education at ASU and then University of Arizona where he received his BS Degree in Civil Engineering. He began his career with the California Department of Transportation and after two years returned to Arizona. Shortly after returning he started Hook Engineering which has become a well-known and successful company for many years. His handprint is widespread over Arizona development.
Jack dedicated his life to Christ in 1983. He was an extravagant giver, sharing his faith, intellect, resources and talent, his humor and cheerful disposition, always with a ready smile. He was forever a devoted and involved family man, instilling his values and interest in many things including education, work, travel, and all sports, especially golf and UofA football.
He was an avid flyer and served as pilot for medical missions to Mexico. As a member of Christ Lutheran Church he served in Prison Ministry as well as lay preaching for Black Canyon Preaching Station, AZ. He designed and constructed the original church sanctuary of Faith Lutheran Church in Heber/Overgaard, and served as their Deacon Preacher for years, an untiring servant of the Lord.
He is survived by his wife Joyce Gentry Hook and his children Mike (Susan) Hook, Jacque Hook, and David (Jennifer) Hook, Meleah Young and Lynn (Willie) Itule, his grandchildren Michelle (Max) Sobotka, Nicole Hook, Trevor Hook, Kyrie (Mike) Holzkopf, Krista Hook, Lydia (Todd) Janka, John (Chelsea) Hook, Jason (Echo) Young, Ryan Young, Carter Young, Billy (Robyn) Itule, Andy Itule, Jessie Itule, and many great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
